DIY Homemade Hot Chocolate Recipe

This "Hot Chocolate" Recipe is perfect for a cold day! Not only is this the perfect drink for cozy days, but cooking is a wonderful way to incorporate relevant math and science concepts into your classroom. Kids absolutely love to create and this is an activity that the entire class can enjoy!

INGREDIENTS:

- 2 Cups Powdered Sugar

- 1 Cup of Cocoa Powder

- 1/2 Cup of Milk ( Non-Dairy will work too)

- 1 tsp salt

- 1/2 Cup of Chocolate Chips

- Mixing Bowls

-Measuring Cup

- Blender

* OPTIONAL add: Whip Cream, Mini/Large Marshmallows, Cinnamon, Cocoa Powder, Chocolate/ White Chocolate Chips and Crushed Candy Cane to your hot chocolate.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. The child will learn how to measure each ingredient for the recipe.

2. The child will practice hand-eye-coordination while mixing the ingredients

3. 90 % of the children will understand the difference in the types of measurements when adding each ingredient to the recipe.

4. The child will be building their fine motor skills.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Measure and Mix all of the ingredients together.

2. When all the ingredients are mixed, store in a air-tight container.

3. Blend all of the Ingredients together until it becomes a fine powder.

4. Once the powder mix is all blended, boil a pot of hot water.

5. Once the water is ready (boiling), pour one cup of hot water or half/half milk (more creamy) and mix with 2-3 Tablespoons of hot coco mix.

6. Stir all ingredient together, add any whip cream, or any other optional ingredients above.

7. Enjoy
